Kicking Off!

This is the inaugural post of our Charter School Nurses Network BLOG!
We can use this site for exchange of ideas and support, promotion of school wellness issues, and self care for nurses. Communication can only make us stronger, and thus more effective. We would like to hear from other Charter School Nurses, perhaps those who would like to find collegial collaboration, but have been unable to attend meetings thus far. Do you have suggestions for how we could schedule our meetings that would make you more likely to attend? Are there suggestions of how we could increase participation without taxing already overburdened schedules? We would love to hear from you!

Tip: "Tiny Bubbles" - I have found the use of Bubbles to be invaluable in my office! Working with primarily grades K-4, I often have students in my office who are angry, or upset and need help to self soothe. Bubbles are a wonderful way to do this. If the student does not wish to participate initially, I blow them. Eventually they join, and with this combination of deep breathing, and happy distraction, we are able to move forward! (also works with older students, after all........who doesn't like bubbles!)
